Twilight Towers: Ruins, Revelations, and Renovations (Oh My!)
Hail, Lightkeepers!
It’s been a while since you’ve heard from us. So long, in fact, that some of you seemed worried the game was dead. We’re here to lay those worries to rest, because while it seemed like we were lying really, really still, our Sorcerers have actually been hard at work preparing our next major update.

That update is coming soon. Really soon. And it’s big. Above average, even. Because this update is big enough to give even Magmarok some competition, we want to go through some of the major changes in more detail so you can brace for impact before the update lands.
Seasons and Events and…Events???
That’s right, Seasons and Events are coming back! As always, we appreciate your patience as we shifted priorities and paused Seasons and Events. With all that work out of the way, we’re ready to bring back Seasons and Events but with a few minor changes.
To start, here’s what hasn’t changed about Seasons and Events: Season and Event Pass rewards, unique Event maps and challenges outside of Fernhollow, and Dragons. Those will all still be part of the Season and Event experience that you know and love.
Now to explain what will look a bit different. Events in this upcoming Season will now be called Expeditions, a name that better captures the epicness of travelling to a new base and facing challenges outside of Fernhollow. Each Season will now consist of two Expeditions, each lasting two weeks. This change may make Seasons feel a bit lighter, but that’s only to make room for more Events.
That’s right, Events will soon be available outside of Seasons, and some will even take place in Fernhollow. Can’t beat that commute! To summarize, here are all five Event types you’ll soon be able to experience in (and out) of Fernhollow:
- Merge Events: Merge specific grid elements to gain points and earn rewards
- Rush Events: Spend resources such as Energy or Gold to gain points and earn rewards
- Battle Events: Battle through waves of enemies that spawn through Event Rifts to compete for leaderboard rewards
- Boss Events: Deal damage to unkillable wave Bosses to compete for leaderboard rewards
- Expeditions: Unique Events that take place outside of Fernhollow (previously known as the Events played during Seasons)
We’re excited about these changes, and we hope you are too! Our goal was not only to provide more variety but also to provide extra challenges outside of Season cycles. Some of the Events mentioned above will be available at set times for all Lightkeepers while others will become available based on the individual progress you’ve made in Fernhollow.
We know not everyone will be happy with these changes, which is why we worked super hard to make every Event exciting and accessible. You’ll also notice that these Events cater to both the competitive and non-competitive Lightkeepers out there. For some, you’ll be competing against other Lightkeepers to see whose will and might are stronger. For others, the battle is just between you and your merge mastery. There are points to be earned and rewards to be won, but victory is determined only by how much you want it.
We don’t want to ruin the surprise of what’s to come too much, but we can tell you our first Expedition is coming up on April 26th, so ready your defenses!
Fernhollow Renovations
Fernhollow has undergone its biggest renovation yet! Visually, Fernhollow has been completely revamped to include a different layout, enhanced visuals, and new grid elements to merge. Functionally, Fernhollow has… also been completely revamped.
Expanding Fernhollow will now come with additional challenges. Previously, unlocking additional territory required brute strength (completing Waves). Now, it’ll take a combination of Wave completion, grid element requirements, and in some cases, defeating a Boss to unlock more regions.
However, unlocking land should feel more ceremonious since you won’t just be clearing a few tiles of Blight. Instead, you’ll unlock a whole section of land that will often uncover Wonders that offer their own rewards…like a Dragon even 👀.
There’s a lot to uncover with these new changes, so we’ll let you explore those for yourselves with the new update. Until then, here’s a little sneak peek at what the renovations look like!

Energy Changes
“Oh no, not again!” you’re probably thinking. Don’t worry, we’ve been ears to the ground listening to all your feedback about the last set of changes we made to the energy system. Two good things came out of it. One, we saw the need to make things a bit simpler. Two, with our ears so close to the ground, we filled our quota of touching grass.
How we simplified things: Energy regeneration is now fixed at a standard rate of one energy per minute. The good news is, if you are a Lightkeeper who is updating their game from an older version, your existing Houses will still offer energy regeneration. Otherwise, Houses will now serve as an unlock requirement for some new regions in Fernhollow.
As mentioned previously, the next update will be a big one. That means we’ve only scratched the surface of what’s coming. However, if we told you everything in this dev blog, that would spoil the surprise for the rest of the changes. If you want to learn about the changes in more detail, Release Notes will be available when the update begins to roll out next week. You can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and soon Discord to see some tips and tricks from us and your fellow Lightkeepers.
Although this update will be a big one, we still have a lot more planned especially as we get ready to take Twilight Towers global. To keep you in the loop of what we have coming up, take a look at our latest Roadmap.

Until then, thank you all for your patience and understanding while our Sorcerers continue to tinker with the magic in Fernhollow. There’s still lots to get done before we take Twilight Towers global in our full access release, but we’re grateful that you’ve chosen to join this journey with us.
We look forward to hearing all your feedback about what you like about the changes and what could still use some improvements!
‘Til next time, Lightkeepers (we’ll try not to make it too long 👉👈),
The Twilight Towers Team
